S L Donaldson‘s youth was spent in Germany, where Europe’s history of art and culture acted as a catalyst to her artistic endeavors. She studied art and traditional egg tempera painting under Italian artist, Ricardo Blaszczyk. It was through his mentorship that she learned strength of line and color.

Ms. Donaldson later attended Oregon State University, receiving a Master of Science degree in Animal Science. She often draws upon her educational background to explore creature-themed images that integrate a vibrant kaleidoscope of colors. A similar unexpected color palette is often incorporated into the artist’s landscape and figurative paintings.

The artist resides on the Oregon Coast and continues to use the local area as inspiration for her award-winning artwork that maintains appeal to a variety of discerning collectors and art lovers.
